The Laughlin Family Foundation Launches Limited Edition “LockerStrong” T-shirts to Support The Fight Against Heart Disease
In November of 2024, Craig Laughlin, current TV analyst for The Washington Capitals on Monumental SportsNetwork and former NHL player, was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart condition her’s had since birth. Laughlin will be undergoing open heart surgery in early February 2025 to repair his bicuspid valve, an aortic aneurysm, as well as a bypass, all of which are conditions connected to his valve condition. He will miss several weeks of the Capitals season as he recovers from his surgery.
“Locker,” as known by Caps fans, along with his broadcast partner Joe Beninati, have been calling Capitals games together since the early 1990’s and are the longest tendered broadcasting duo in the NHL. “LockerStrong” was inspired by the fans, and is not only a way to show support to Locker while he takes a medical leave of absence from the team, but it’s a way to raise awareness for heart disease and help raise funds for the American Heart Association.
“LockerStrong” t-shirts are available for pre-order through Friday January 24th, and are expected to ship mid-February 2025. Proceeds from all t-shirts purchased will support the American Heart Association.
For fans also wishing to send Locker messages of cheer and support, mail can be sent to the following address: The Laughlin Family Foundation C/O Courtney Laughlin P.O. BOX 3308 1296 Cronson Blvd. Crofton MD 21114
