Craig Laughlin Partners with Local Brewery to Brew a Beer for a Cause

Craig Laughlin, Former Washington Capital and current TV analyst, is partnering with Astro Lab Brewing, a craft brewery based in Silver Spring MD, to brew a beer in support ofThe Laughlin Family Foundation. A lover of craft beer, Laughlin worked with Astro Lab Brewing’s co-founders Matt Cronin and Emma Whelan to design and brew Wicked Wrister , a 7.1% abv hazy IPA, that releases in early February.
“Craig approached us because he loves our Fresh As IPA and asked us to work on a beer for a cause to raise funds and awareness for his family foundation .” says Whelan. “He has a huge passion for both craft beer and the Laughlin Family Foundation mission, which made it an easy project for us to support. ”
50% of the profits from the sale of the beer will be donated to support the foundation’s work to advance the care and support of those affected by rare cancers.
Laughlin played a big role in the creative process for Wicked Wrister . As well as choosing the name, he contributed to recipe creation, label design and also personally assisted in brewing and canning the beer. “Craig was very specific about what he loves in a beer and it was fun choosing a unique hop combination to create something that we knew he, his followers and our own customers would enjoy drinking ,” says Cronin, Astro Lab Brewing Co-Founder and Head Brewer.
Wicked Wrister will be available for purchase at Astro Lab Brewing’s online store for pick up or local delivery or through partner retailers in DC and Maryland.
